A+ A A-

terraThere are three main reasons for using pellets for heating : economic, ecological and practical.

  • Ecological reasons the pellet is made from scraps of wood and then classified as biomass, when burning it produces low emissions of CO2 and NOX emissions and combustion residues can be reused as fertilizer. Also the lack of binders, additives, paints and chemicals makes the pellet less toxic and polluting than other fuels.
  • Economic reasons: energy savings in the use of wood pellet stove compared to a traditional wood stove arising from the different calorific value. In fact, the normal wood has a calorific value of 4.5 kW / kg (with 17% humidity), whilst that of the pellets is 5.2 kW / kg. To this we then add that pellets is also less expensive than normal fuels deriving from petroleum origin as the cost in euro per Kw of pellets is lower than that of natural gas and diesel.
  • Practical reasons: practical logistics in the pellet storage (pellet storage use half the storage space needed for the wood). Convenience in purchasing and security in the supply of the product because it is less flammable. These features make the transportation and storage less dangerous.
